A Different Kind of Gathering
The Wine Spa was created around a simple idea: some of the best experiences happen when great people, beautiful surroundings, thoughtful hospitality and a really good glass of wine come together. Located in downtown Halifax, we're part social spa, part wine bar and a rather fabulous place to gather. Come for a manicure with a friend. Celebrate a birthday. Bring your team for an afternoon that feels nothing like the usual corporate event. Host clients for cocktails or take over the entire spa for a private party. Whatever brings you through our doors, we want you to leave thinking, "That was fun. We should do that again."
How It Started
The idea for The Wine Spa came to me while I was working at Peacock Wine Bar and wondering what I might do with my newly earned Sommelier Certification. My manager, Hailey, was leaving to attend cosmetology school. After our last shift together, I went home, poured a glass of wine and started imagining a business where someday we might work side by side again.
A spa was definitely not the original plan.
But somewhere over that glass of wine, I started picturing a different kind of spa. No hushed voices, closed treatment rooms or everyone disappearing in different directions. I imagined friends sitting together, drinking wine, getting glamorous, laughing and actually enjoying the experience together. Fourteen months later, The Wine Spa opened its doors on Hollis Street.
More Than a Spa
It didn't take long to realize that our guests weren't only coming for manicures and pedicures. They were coming because they wanted a great reason to spend time together. And that has shaped what The Wine Spa is becoming. Today, hospitality and events are as much a part of what we do as our social spa experiences. We host birthdays and celebrations, corporate gatherings, team experiences, client events, cocktail receptions, professional development and private parties, along with our own signature events. Some include spa services. Others include wine tastings, beautiful food or interactive experiences. And sometimes what you really need is a fabulous room, a great bar and people who know how to throw a party.
We don't simply rent you a room. We host you in ours.
Meet Angela
I have always loved bringing people together. Long before The Wine Spa, my career was centred around business, leadership, events and community. I have a BA and MBA from Dalhousie University, am a Certified Sommelier, and have led organizations, built programs and events, worked in hospitality and, eventually, decided it would be a fabulous idea to open a social spa and wine bar.
Turns out, all of those experiences fit together rather nicely. Today, I spend much of my time dreaming up events, discovering great wines, creating partnerships and introducing interesting people to one another. I love the details that make people feel welcome, the energy of a great room and creating experiences people genuinely want to talk about afterward. The Wine Spa brings all of that together.
